The 1 Mile Walk/Run to raise funds for The Friendship Center and increase awareness of sexual violence was Saturday, June 19th, 2010. This was the first time Walk a Mile in Her Shoes had been held in Helena.

About 15 pairs of larger sized high heel shoes were available for participating men. Women and children of all ages also walked, working together to end sexual violence in all forms in our community. The Walk is also a reminder that sexual violence is an issue that can affect anyone. About 50 people turned out to support this event, which concluded at Hill Park with food and several guest speakers from the community.

Summary:
“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence” was proposed by Frank Baird in 2001. This year there are 130 Marches across the country, plus Marches in Canada, Great Britian, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

Thank you everyone who helped support this event!
